TULUM - MORE THAN JUST A BEACH
Little Tulum, the jewel of the Riviera Maya has become more than just
another Caribbean Sea coastal town, it is a one of a kind heaven for
life loving people seeking a slice or paradise.
Like my wife Jane says about Tulum, "Tulum is a hard place to leave."
TULUM 2011 – 4th Annual Green Expo and Art Fair
Green Ideas – to save Tulum and our planet.
Three action packed days of conferences, featuring twenty
timely lectures of one hour each plus representatives of
cutting edge technological innovations for a sustainable
balance of nature. Sensible recycling with art and
everyday living in a harmonious balance coexisting with
nature is the theme of the numerous artists participating.
Functional and beautiful, totally recycled materials are
creatively finished into dazzling art forms by local artist Flor
Norma Grisel Mena Mena.
The Green Expo is an annual event in Tulum with an ever
expanding collection of talented and dedicated
contributors all helping to make this planet a better place
to live.

Muyil, Mayan Ruins and Sian Ka’an Biosphere
Reserve – a side trip from Tulum
Twenty-five kilometers south of Tulum is located a remarkable
link to Mayan ingenuity. Located in a dense jungle setting and
connected to the Caribbean Sea by two manmade canals, Muyil
also known as Chunyaxché still stands as a noteworthy
testimonial to this remarkable Mayan stand alone civilization.
Muyil is a wonderful place to take a nature hike, mingle with
tropical nature and witness some of the most unusual examples
of the Mayan advanced infrastructure that is still functional to this
very day. This is a big place so plan to do a lot of walking. To
enjoy Muyil to its fullest a half day of leisurely poking along will
enhance your pleasurable experience immensely.

TULUM REVISITED 2010
Tulum has been an intersection of transport and commerce for
countless centuries dating back to the ancient Chontal Maya with huge
sea-going trade canoes that frequented these pristine waters.
In 1975 the Territory of Quintana Roo became a state, but was seldom
visited, had nearly no paved roads and tourism was unheard of outside
of the newly created resort town of Cancún. Besides being undeveloped
it was a smugglers paradise for clandestine merchandise that strangely
found its way into Mexico by night.
Though the Riviera Maya has been discovered now by world travelers
there are still some extremely affordable options for visiting Tulum.
