TRAVELS OF DURSMIRG                    VOLUME IV
THE ROGUES OF ST. AUGUSTINE AND OTHER SOCIAL MISFITS
                                                               Chapter 3
Chapter 3                                                  FLORIDA’S FIRST ROGUE

Don Juan Ponce de Leon’s monument commemorates the first European to set foot on Florida soil and enter St.
Augustine.

This noble bronze statue of Don Juan Poncé de
Leon who landed in the St. Augustine harbor at this
very same waterfront on Easter Sunday March 27,
1513 says little of the American native Indians who
had populated this land and called it their home
since the beginning of recorded time.

The full story behind the Spanish
conquistadors who altered the New World
history forever with their inquisition driven
zeal can be found in appendix 2 of this volume
along with expanded chronicles.
